[Bug 816844] Re: hdparm -i truncate model name at first space

I can confirm this happens for me as well, so I'm going to go ahead and
triage this bug. It looks like hdparm truncates at the first space, and
the kernel probably has a maximum length that is too short. I'll see if
I can find and fix it if I can find some time...

Title:
hdparm -i truncate model name at first space

Status in “hdparm” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
I have a device where hdparm -i tell me the model name is "INTEL",
that is not a correct model name.

If I use hdparm -I, it tells me the model name is "INTEL
SSDSA2CT040G3", which sounds correct. I believe the difference is
caused by a bug in how hdparm -i identifies the end of the model name.
