Title:
update-manager crashed with RuntimeError in /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-
  packages/gi/overrides/Gtk.py: Gtk couldn't be initialized

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
update-manager tried to start an automatic update (I guess) when it
  crashed.

I was just minding my own business writing a mail when all of a sudden
I get an error-dialogue saying something had crashed. This dialogue
needs to be updated. If it is about the application you are currently
using, I guess you can figure out what it is about. But when some
background-task or other app that you are not currently using crashes
and you get a dialogue that doesn't mention what it is that has
crashed, it is not very helpful.
