[Bug 870446] [NEW] installing or removing packages - seeing message saying it has failed, but it seems to succeed

Public bug reported:

picked up latest build of software center
Filename: pool/main/s/software-center/software-center_5.0.1.4_all.deb

Now, every time I try to install or remove a package I'm seeing an error message.
installArchives() failed:  Selecting previously deselected package ...

The install does seem to succeed though,  after I click ok on the
failure message button.
