This can be worked around by using the boot.img-[fb|serial].gz image
file and selecting "Guided - use available free space" when prompted for
partition info.

Title:
No option for u-boot partition on armel platforms

Status in “partman-partitioning” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Currently, there is no option to create a u-boot partition required
for omap/omap4 systems that boot from SD. If left alone, no fat
partition will be created on /dev/mmcblk0 as 1st partition, which is
required to make the system bootable. This should be 30M at an
absolute minimum. No more than 70M is required.
