[Bug 873789] [NEW] dist upgrade failed with exit code 1

Public bug reported:

I rebooted and it sort of works, top and bottom of windows are severely offset, program asked for /var/log/dist-upgrade file will attempt to paste:  mainllog
There are more this thing only lets me past one, if you need others I will supply.
