The problem is its an unofficial package you are trying to use.  It may be pulling packages onto the system that conflict with other already installed system packages.  Closing report but feel free to leave more comments.

Title:
  Could not calculate the upgrade

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  After adding a new PPA ( deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-
  manager/ppa/ubuntu lucid main ) I received this error

  Could not calculate the upgrade
  An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
  Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
  'E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.'

  If i remove or disable the PPA I just added the error disapears.
