Title:
Grub error drops me into grub rescue prompt after latest lucid upgrade
  - "error: no such device"

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub2

After the latest lucid update I was dropped into the grub rescue
prompt on reboot with "error: no such device c2202.."

  Per http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1195275 I then tried:

  > ls
  (hd0)
  > search -f /vmlinuz
no such command (or something like that)
  > set prefix=(hd0,1)/boot/grub
  > set root=(hd0,1)
  > ls /boot
no such partition (or something like that)

I'm pretty sure it should be showing up as (hd0,1) / "/dev/sda1" but
from mounting the partition from a live CD I see that the UUID in
  /etc/fstab is UUID=fb815699-d076-4a96-8c14-1045deb80c00, beginning
  with c2202 as above.
