I suppose I should have plugged in the wire before I attempted the
upgrade to maintain network connectivity, but it's too late for that
now. I am also locked out of all other logins and any sudo attempts
fail. On the terminal I cannot log in as myself, my auxiliary user or as
root. I cannot sudo to root or my auxiliary user either.

Bug description:
  System upgrade via update-manager failed. I presume this is because my
  wireless card ("Broadcom BCM4315") is not properly natively supported
  and had to be patched to work.
