  ----------------------------

  Could not install the upgrades

The upgrade has aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state. A
recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a).

after reboot, computer hung before logon, had messages about waiting
  for network.

After long time, eventually got to complete boot & logon using info at
  #24 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dbus/+bug/811441

This was a very nasty surprise - to be unable to use computer for 1
day+ while figuring out how to fix this (I hope - have not been game
to reboot yet - as many people say this fix does not survive a
reboot). Do keep up all the great work, I really like Ubuntu (just
swithcing form M$), but this one is a nasty show stopper!!
