This was caused by a segfault of apt
Oct 17 22:46:53 ubuntu kernel: [ 1006.654196] plugininstall.p[8384]: segfault at 7f52ff2f35b8 ip 00007f4833139bb8 sp 00007fffccbd70f8 error 4 in apt_pkg.so[7f4833117000+4a000]
