Thanks for your bug report. I'm not qualified to help you with your
problem, but I can tell you how to attach the files you need. To attach
the contents of the /var/log/dist-upgrade folder, please click the "add
attachment" button (under the "add comment" section of this web page)
and then browse to your "File System" folder, then click through the
following folders: var>log>dist-upgrade, and attach the files in that
folder.

Title:
update manager: file missing after package update

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Yesterday for a reason I don't understand the update manager would not
update my system saying that it could not get through to the
repository. I switched to a different mirror and update manager said a
package update was available (from 10.04 to 10.10).

I updated last night and then went to bed. This evening when I got in
from work I opened the computer and opened the update manager to see
if the package update had resolved the problem. The update manager
told me another update was available from 10.10 to 11.04. In the
process of updating this error message came up.

  "Invalid Package Information
After your package information was updated the essential package 'ubuntu-minimal' can not be found anymore. This indicates a serious error, please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report."

Usually I would include what system I'm using but the update didn't
seem to continue and the update manager is still saying 'New Ubuntu
release 11.04 is available'. On the other hand Systems>About Ubuntu
tells me I'm using 11.04 already.

I know I'm supposed to provide the details of /var/log/dist-upgrade/
but I'm not sure how to do this.

I'm now confused and in a it of a tangle. I would like to update to
11.04 (or finish updating) and resolve the problems with Update
Manager. Any help would be much appreciated!

  Lyra
