Title:
Upgrade to 11.10 failing because of 3rd party software

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I am running the standard 10.04 system 32 bit on a x61 Thnkpad. I checked reports of people having problems with 3rd party software. I disabled or removed the sources for 3rd party software, but I still get the rejection about failure to calculate. Do I have to remove the 3rd party software? That's KDE3, Vritual Box (non-open-source), amd perhaps a couple of others.
NOTE Possible source: I am not using the Nowveau drivers but the Nvidia drivers (for 3D display needs). I can help check stuff as needed.
