Title:
11.10-beta2 installation fails if root partition is btrfs due to lack
of free space
Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Installation of Kubuntu 11.10 beta2 from alternate CD fails during kernel install step when root partition has btrfs.
First I found it on my Eee PC 901 laptop, then reproduced this error on VMWare virtual machine.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start installer from Kubuntu alternative CD (kubuntu-11.10-beta2-alternate-i386.iso).
2. Select language and keyboard layout.
3. Do not configure network
4. Select TZ.
5. Create new partition or select existing, set type to btrfs, mount point to /.
6. Continue installation.
7. Error: Unable to locate package linux-headers-generic.
If root partition is ext4, installation works. I haven't tried using
btrfs for other partitions. Having network configured doesn't seem to
help, but I somehow managed to install system once on btrfs, so I'm
not sure.
