[Bug 878997] Re: setting nopasswdlogin removes user password

I don't know which package this is, but it's *not* pam. The user is
reporting that the password entry is being removed, and this is not
something that the pam package does.

Reassigning to lightdm, but I don't know where this 'nopasswdlogin'
group setup is being done.

** Package changed: pam (Ubuntu) => lightdm (Ubuntu)

Title:
  setting nopasswdlogin removes user password

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When user wants to setup login without password, user adds to
nopasswdlogin group (it is fine), but actual password is removed as
well. This makes impossible using the sudo or gksudo command if user
  was in adm group.

Workaround is booting in recovery mode and manual setting password to
  the user.
