Hi Robert,
While I can see that there does appear to be a language related crash, the main problem in that log seems to be that your hard drive appears to be faulty; I suggest you use the disk utility on the installation disk to check the 'SMART' data on the drive or perform other tests; the errors from the log that give me that are:

Oct 29 22:43:12 ubuntu ntfsresize: ERROR: This software has detected that the disk has at least 2 bad sectors.
Oct 29 22:43:12 ubuntu ntfsresize: ****************************************************************************
Oct 29 22:43:12 ubuntu ntfsresize: * WARNING: The disk has bad sector. This means physical damage on the disk *
Oct 29 22:43:12 ubuntu ntfsresize: * surface caused by deterioration, manufacturing faults or other reason. *
Oct 29 22:43:12 ubuntu ntfsresize: * The reliability of the disk may stay stable or degrade fast. We suggest *
Oct 29 22:43:12 ubuntu ntfsresize: * making a full backup urgently by running 'ntfsclone --rescue ...' then *
Oct 29 22:43:12 ubuntu ntfsresize: * run 'chkdsk /f /r' on Windows and rebooot it TWICE! Then you can resize *
Oct 29 22:43:12 ubuntu ntfsresize: * NTFS safely by additionally using the --bad-sectors option of ntfsresize.*
