Public bug reported:
Dunno, whether this one is related to the "Fix Released" one (#850482)
but in the current version (1:0.152.25.4) the update manager refuses to
update with the message: 'E:Unable to correct problems, you have held
broken packages.'
The background is: I've re-installed two packages cnijfilter-common:i386
and cnijfilter-mp210series:i386 from package files cnijfilter-
common_2.80-1_i386.deb and cnijfilter-mp210series_2.80-1_i386.deb, which
depend on libcupsys2 and libpopd0. Thus installation only worked with
sudo dpkg --force-architecture --force-depends -i cnijfilter-
common_2.80-1_i386.deb
and the other one, respectively (yes, they work).
After the fist problems, that arouse from update-manager due to broken packages, which it would try to remove (though I wanna hold them, I marked them to be held using a file with these two packages marked to hold, by
sudo dpkg --set-selections < dpkg-hold.txt
Now, obviously they seem to be marked to be held, which seems to lead
into trouble for update-manager, and to synaptic, as well, as it
wouldn't install anything, without deciding, to remove these two
packages.
** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
