Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since
this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.

I canfirm this issue using a hardware installation. My monitor goes
directly to a suspend or hibernate mode, until I hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 to F6.
It then wakes up and I can login.

Thanks for taking the time to make Ubuntu better!

Title:
When installing (from alternate ISO) a command-line-only system, grub
  should not redirect to VT7

Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Observed on Ubuntu Beta1 testing. When one installs a command-line
only system from the Alternate ISO, Grub is still configured to
  redirect to VT7 (plymouth integration).

This redirect makes no sense: there is no graphical environment to
deal with the user after booting.
