Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Edgy reached EOL in April, 2008.

I've tried recreating this bug with Natty and was unable to (crashes are
handled by apport in most cases), given the information you've provided.
Please either a) upgrade and test or b) increase the verbosity of the
steps to recreate it so we can try again.

Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Bug description:
  Not sure how to reproduce, apport trace being attached.

  We should do per-package hooks soon :). I might do that when I return
  from leave if its not done already.

  EDIT (2009-03-20/liw): If there's a Python exception or other
  catastrophic error within update-manager, it should catch it and
  report the error in some nice way, rather than just crashing.
