Title:
eee pc 701 can't be updated as disk leaks
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: update-manager
I installed lucid beta 1 to the internal 4GB flash disk of my Asus EEE
PC 701. Since last year I have successfully run ubuntu karmic and
lucid on my EEE PC by plugging in a 320GB WD Passport USB Disk.
However now that I have a USB 3G Huawei modem I want to use Ubuntu in
the car where there is no table to support my USB disk. Today I
checked my disk space and found 67% used with df or 1.1GB free of 4GB
internal disk. The I ran update manager which downloaded 280MB of
updates including the new kernel image. After updating successfully
and restarting I found half of the free disk space had disappeared.
This is mystifying as the terminal window in update manager kept
showing packages being replaced. I tried using Computer Janitor to see
if I could find the leaking disk space but it only found 16MB of
kernel headers. Clearly the Ubuntu Netbook Edition is not a viable
system if it cannot be upgraded on typically netbooks with flash
disks.
