  update manager fails when attempting to upgrade to 10.10 beta1

Bug description:
  I wanted to try the beta of Ubuntu 10.10 and started the update-
  manager with -d. After running for an extended period of time writing
  "calculating upgrade" it fails and pops up a suggestion about
  reporting a bug.
