[Bug 848907] [NEW] apt crashes on initial installation of oneiric

Public bug reported:

I attempted to install today's Kubuntu oneiric-alternate-i386.iso build,
and got the attached apt crash.  Unfortunately, and I'm sorry about
this, I can't seem to reproduce it when I run the failing commands
(basically 'apt-cdrom add' and 'apt-get update') by hand, and all I have
to work with is a screenshot!

I'll see if I can drill down further.  I don't think this is an isolated
occurrence; the tester towards the end of bug 420080 seems to be
experiencing the same symptoms.
