Title:
ISO testing: OEM install, new user configuration, OSD + background
  mess

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  ISO testing, image: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20110919
  /oneiric-desktop-amd64.iso

  Following http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/DesktopOem, I did
"prepare for shipping to end user" and shutdown. Then I powered the
machine up (to simulate a new user powering the new machine up for the
first time). The laptop associated with a wireless network and an OSD
message popped up. However, the rendering of the background and OSD
somehow produced the effect shown in the attached screenshot, which is
wrong and broken and leaves the user with no real intelligible
  information.
