Title:
  Strange grub-update error

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Using Ubuntu 11.10beta I encountered a strange error while performing
an update via "sudo apt-get upgrade" in the terminal. The error
  reads:

/usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: Attempting to install GRUB to a partitionless disk or to a partition. This is a BAD idea..
/usr/sbin/grub-setup: warn: Embedding is not possible. GRUB can only be installed in this setup by using blocklists. However, blocklists are UNRELIABLE and their use is discouraged..

My hard drive configuration is a pair of 32GB SSDs, one is the root
and boot partitions, the other is my home partition. I've had this
configuration for about a year and never seen any warnings like this
before. I haven't tried rebooting since this occured but I will
report back if it causes problems booting up.
