Seems the grub kernel postinst.d hook is most unhappy:

    /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: cannot find a device for / (is /dev mounted?).
    run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub exited with return code 1

Adding a grub2 task.

Bug description:
  Error while installing linux upgrade from 3.0.0-11 to 3.0.0-12. 
  Environment is live-usb, with otherwise current updates and with persistence.  
  USB stick does not have grub installed.
