  installer crashes during reinstall

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 11.04 stopped working after installing a group of updates.  Attempted to reinstall and the installer crashes.
  Tried to upgrade to 11.10 bur the installer crashed during that attempt also.

  Some of the information asked for is unavailable, all I get is the
  startup background with no curser or anything else.

  Message requested to create a new bug report and this be included;
  /var/log/syslog

  
  Appears I can only attach one file to this report I will create a second bug report and attach the /var/log/partman file to it.
