Title:
gnome classic: window title and resize/close buttons gone
Status in “aptdaemon” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
On the evening of 4-4-2012 approxx 21:30 CET I did an update of my
12.04 system using Synaptic.
I have te system set to use 'gnome classic' as default session.
First of all: almost 250 items were set to be deleted from my system. Some turned out to be irreparably damaged.
(e.g.: Skype was completely removed, and a reinstall fails because skype-bin can't be found)
After system reboot, all my windows appear in the top-left corner _underneath_ the top panel.
Minimizing the top panel reveals that the window title bar for every window has disappeared.
Very nifty: a terminal without menu bar appears as a black square. after several carriage returns, the cursor appears.
MC can't be used because it's menu is also hidden underneath the panel.
Moving a window is _impossible_:
even if you right click the windows's related item on the bottom panel and select 'move', no
handles or whatever appear, neither does the cursor change.
In other words: the system has become virtually useless.
Why are you guys so adamant at ruining the good ubuntu whe had by enforcing that horrible unity upon us?
FOr years, users could use the same interface which was clear, easy and functional. Now we get unity,
which makes everything hard and unfindable. Half the system settings are no longer in system-settings!!!
I'm no child! I want to control my system. If not, I'd bought Apple instead.
I hate microsoft for ther ever changing interface that, besides wasting resources, does nothing to improve
workability.
Why can't I get my old good ubuntu/gnome back? Are you so adamant at wanting to loose customers???
Regards,
marout Borsm,
Amsterdam.
