[Bug 979584] [NEW] ubuntu 12.04 alternate install fails on select and install software

Public bug reported:

Testing installation of alternate CD 20120411. I got a "select and
install software failed" message, with a suggestion to try the step
again using the expert install menu. I did so, and the installation
completed and, as far as I can tell, is working correctly.

I did a disk integrity check before installing, as I usually do.
