As for the instructions, there's a set here (until the Precise

The RAID test setup was attempting to install a two disk RAID10 but
failed during install as noted but RAID can be configured after install
or with work-arounds if needed.

  Steps to Reproduce: run net installer, configure raid devices, reboot
  and validate raid devices are detected

  Expected result: raid devices detected

  Actual result: raid devices are not detected

  Note: raid devices may be detected after "sudo apt-get install mdadm
  && reboot"
