Public bug reported:

Crashed late in the installation on new formated external hard drive [500gb].
When trying to install on a new laptop.
N.B. After buying this new laptop HP dv6 500gb 6gb twin core i3, I found I was unable to get 11.10 to load even though the same [downloaded] program had worked with no problems several times before.
Tried with two downloaded copies of 12.04 beta with no luck.

Bought a new disk from newsagents of 12.04 and this is what crashed, it
had not partioned the drive when trying a fresh install to the internal
H/D so was trying to install from inside windows [7] onto an external
H/D when the problem occured.
