I also checked the installtion under virtualbox, with lxtask opened, and
I didn't have more than 300 Mb used during the installation. So far,
unable to reproduce it here.

Bug description:
in virtualbox, i set up a VM with a single disk 600mb of Ram, 1 cpu
booted off a virtual LIveCD
unplugged virtual network
started ubiquity
clicked 'do something else'
2 partitions were already there
on first partition i changed it to EXt4, mounted as /
selected format this disk on same first partition
clicked continue
Ubiquity crashed, no error message.
once back at desktop, i replaced virtual network cable, reported bug with ubuntu-bug
