I'm sorry, it seems I misremembered what I read on the release notes,
which do not say that 10.04 -> 12.04 upgrade is available. The closest I
could find was the upgrade notes at the below link where it says, "To
avoid damaging your running system, upgrading should only be done from
one release to the next release (e.g. Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 9.10) or
from one LTS release to the next (e.g. Ubuntu 6.06 LTS to Ubuntu 8.04
LTS).", implying that a 10.04 -> 12.04 upgrade is possible. Since it
makes sense to release the LTS upgrade to LTS users when it is more
stabilized, all I ask is that the fact that the upgrade button will not
appear until the first point release be added to the release notes
and/or upgrade notes.
Thank you.

Title:
Update Manager does not offer 10.04 -> 12.04 upgrade
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
The 12.04 release notes today suggest that it should be possible to
upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04 desktop version by selecting "Long term
support releases only" under "Show new distribution releases:" in
Update Manager and refreshing the package information. However, no
button offering to launch the upgrade process appears.
