@Fred: you are talking about the Debconf window
(http://ubuntuforums.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=155778&d=1273197137),
which was another problem.

This bug is about the window that appears when you select "Something-else" in Ubiquity (the Ubuntu installer), see screenshot below:

** Description changed:

Bug confirmed on all Ubuntu versions until Natty.

- In the "manual partitionning" menu, Ubiquity allows to install GRUB inside any disk and any partition.
+ In the "manual partitionning" menu, Ubiquity allows to install GRUB inside any disk and any partition. (screenshot: http://i46.tinypic.com/e9dvzd.png )
If a beginner installs by mistake GRUB inside a Windows system partition, it has only bad consequences :
  1) GRUB won't work as it needs a chainloader
  2) If the user is been told to reinstall GRUB in the MBR: since NTFS partitions are case insensitive GRUB will not be able to detect Windows. ( http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/bootinfoscript/index.php?title=Boot_Problems:Core_On_Windows )

I suggest Ubiquity should only propose to install GRUB inside:
  - any disk
  - the partition of the new Ubuntu being installed (for chainloader users)
