It appears that due to the fact that Zorin is modified from the original
Ubuntu ISO, I'm not supposed to update using any official ubuntu updates
(11.10, 12.04) that pop up in update manager, since it will cause
problems.

Title:
Update Manager installing next os version (11.10) error
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
Update Manager said there was a newer version of Ubuntu available, so I clicked the button for it to install.
It ran everything, but at some point in the process, it threw up an error which told me to type "ubuntu-bug update-manager" (or something like that) into a terminal, and I did, and so here I am.
However, it does seem to have continued the installation as normal, with nothing obviously wrong, but time will tell if that's actually true or not.
