Yes, it's important to submit the apport information when the machine is
in the same configuration as when you encountered the problem, since
we'll get completely different kernel information in dmesg based on
which driver is used.  So please switch back to nouveau, reboot, and
resubmit the apport info.

  blank screen on startup

Status in “plymouth” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  This boot screen with "Ubuntu" and the dots works fine on the live CD. But after installation it is either a blank  black screen (mostly) or occasionally a purple screen with "ubuntu" in a tiny terminal type character font.
  On shutdown it usually shows purple screen with a tiny white ubuntu and some console type message across the screen.
  Logout briefly shows a black screen with tiny ubuntu text.

  This is on a Dell E521 with an nVidia Geforce 7300 LE card using the nouveau driver. 32 bit PAE kernel.
