  Gives up completely if /etc/apt/sources.d/ contains a malformed file

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  1. echo "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/tualatrix/ppa/ubuntu main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu-tweak-stable.list
  2. update-manager

  What happens:
  * An error alert appears saying: "Could not initialize the package information" "An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message: 'E:Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu-tweak-stable.list (dist parse)'
  * Update Manager exits without letting you fix the problem.

  What should happen:
  * An error alert appears saying something like: "Some software channel settings are incorrect and will be ignored." "Details: Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu-tweak-stable.list (dist parse)"
  * Update Manager stays open.

  The equivalent problem in Ubuntu Software Center is bug 633626, and in
  Synaptic is bug 633630.
