Bug description:
  Noticed that I was not getting automatic updates. So killed the process and ran it from terminal.
  $ update-notifier

  I then ran sudo fc-cache -f -v which is why I reduced the errors to
  just the /etc/fonts/conf.d/90-fonts-nanum.conf errors.

  As a workaround renaming/etc/fonts/conf.d/90-fonts-nanum.conf to
  backup enables update-notifier to run.

  Also the /etc/xdg/autostart/update-notifier.desktop file seems
  corrupted. It got attached to this report via ubuntu-bug.
