Title:
Unable to set custom mirror through synaptic

Status in “software-properties” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Problem: Synaptic does not allow for the setting of custom mirrors.

Situation: My preferred mirror has limited access, with only
connections of my ISP accepted. It probably isn't suitable for
inclusion in the distributed list because of this. However, since
downloads from there are not counted towards bandwidth limits, it is
nice to be able to use this.

Solution: Manually changing the sources.list is not something for
newbies, so allowing custom mirrors to be set via synaptic would be a
  useful feature.
