Title:
[Regression] GRUB2 silently fails to install in the MBR
Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
My PC is an Intel Ivy Bridge, with a Gigabyte mainboard, a SSD being the only drive. No UEFI. CSM support enabled. I tried to install Ubuntu12.10 alongside an existing Windows 7, but GRUB2.00 silently failed to install in the MBR.
I double checked by using Boot-Repair, same result, here was the log:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/1402172
Then I installed Ubuntu12.04, and this time GRUB1.99 installed successfully in the MBR. See my current situation: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1407156
