Public bug reported:

The Ubuntu 12.10 desktop installation media provides the option to
encrypt the home folder with ecryptfs. If this option is choosen the
swap partition will be encrypted with cryptsetup too. In my opinion /tmp
and maybe even /var should be encrypted too in this case because they
could provide sensitive data like the swap partition.
