** Summary changed:

- Libparted fails to detect partitions on disk
+ parted should handle overlapping partitions more gracefully

** Changed in: parted (Ubuntu)
Assignee: (unassigned) => Phillip Susi (psusi)

** Changed in: parted (Ubuntu)
       Status: Confirmed => In Progress

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: parted
-
- In some cases libparted fails to detect partitions on disk
-
- Logs: http://www.sendspace.com/file/i8oyeb
-
- As suggested by Colin Watson, a hex dump of the boot sector (which
- includes the partition table) would be helpful in such circumstances. To
- extract that use the command:
-
- sudo od -tx1 -Ax -N512 /dev/sda
+ When partitions overlap, (lib)parted throws an unrecoverable bug error.
+ It should be a warning you can ignore.
