The new functionality in 0.14.1 is to allow resizing and moving the
partitions; you could always create them.

I packaged the new release last week and sent it to the Debian
maintainer to upload, but have not heard back from him yet. I'm
assuming he is busy with the holidays and I will follow up after new
years.

Bug description:
  Hi,

I'am asking for an update-request as suggested by marcobra (Marco
Braida) to integrate the last gparted version regarding to a new
  fix/feature.

Indeed, there was a major fix in version 0.14 of GParted that allows LVM2 to be manipulated... Actually, the Ubuntu package contents a 0.12.1 version anterior to this fix.
Furthermore, the 0.14 version is qualified of "stable" by GParted team.

  Extract from gparted changelog:
"The big news with this release is the added ability to move, resize, check, create, and delete Physical Volumes under Logical Volume Management - LVM2 PV (bug #670171). This major addition to GParted 0.14.0 is thanks to work by Mike Fleetwood."
