The console output also shows that the hostname job fails on boot, which
is abnormal; this job simply calls the 'hostname' command, which is
located on the root partition and is a required package. So your system
seems to be in an inconsistent state. Please install the debsums tool
with 'sudo apt-get install debsums' and post the output of 'debsums -s'
from this system.

Title:
Ubuntu sometimes doesn't boot
Status in “plymouth” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Using ubuntu 11.10 kernel 3.15 (also had the same problem with previous kernels)
A lot of the times I try to boot ubuntu,
after the grub Instead of the login screen I get this screen instead http://i748.photobucket.com/albums/xx130/sirvinniei/IMG_0092.jpg
(the line about plymouth says not connected to plymouth)
usually rebooting it (sometimes more than one time) solves the problem
