i'm using an alternate install DVD. I was running a prior version of Ubuntu Studio and the Install DVD recognize the prior System and an upgrade option was showed on the screen. So i ran it, but when the install finished, the System reboot and all that i have is a blank screen.

Title:
installer blanks screen - no install possible
Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: base-installer
I'm currently running into problems trying to install kubuntu dapper on one of
my pc's.
this one has an sis graphics onboard which is obviously not recognised by the
installer, so the cd boots, but then screen gets dark, monitor goes offline
and nothing more.
it just seems the installer switches to some unsupported X or framebuffer mode.
maybe it is also of interest, that debian sarge installer works fine (just checked for reference),
although switching to framebuffer as well (otherwise, I would not see the
graphic debian logo ?).
