Public bug reported:

My system is up to date so far. I just tried to install the hsqldb
server by the relying on the synaptic package management, but the
installation could not be accomplished succesfully due to unknown
reasons. Then I tried to uninstall the uncomplete hsqldb server, also by
relaying on the synaptic package management. But this uninstallation
could not be accomplished succesfully either. So I really do not know
where the problem is, but, at any rate, I' m not happy with it.
