Title:
USB Large File Transfer Error via Samba

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Continuous transfer large files over ethernet to a USB device using
Samba causes USB devices to fail.

The bug is about the unstable usb driver or ethernet driver. It
  probably the usb driver.

Specifically, I was transferring a 2GB file over ethernet from A Samba
server to my compter, the BeagleBoard xM rev.C. The destination is a
usb hard disk conencted to Beagle xM usb port. After 10-20 min, Ubuntu
will lost connection to either ethernet or usb hard drive. There is be
no response from my SSH terminal.

Same error just keeps happening. Similarly, my Windows computer trying
to download a large file from the Samba server hosted on my
BeagleBoard, and after half an hour, the board just lost connection.
The LEDs on the ethernet port stop blinking on and off. I am able to
regain connection, but I have to restart the transfer and the error
  occurs again.

This bug has been reproduced on Ubutnu 11.10 armel and 12.04 armhf
  platform.
