As of Quantal alpha2 it seems that while there is still something
creating mdadm based volumes, but the installer (?) removes those before
asking about activating them. And saying yes for now seems back to
dmraid.

Title:
Activate Serial ATA RAID devices dialog likely not working as expected
Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Release: Quantal
Variant: ubuntu-server
Reproduces requires Intel Matrix Storage Manager fakeraid devices to be set up.
The seems to be that by the time the question about "Activate Serial ATA RAID devices" is asked, mdadm seems to have run already. It least for Intel MSM, mdadm has gained the capability to recognize the special meta-data format and sets up md volumes.
Looking at the status from a different console, I can confirm, that by that time the question is asked, there is already a md126 (referring to md127 containing the imsm meta-data) set up in read-only mode (which leads to another bug when continuing which I will report independently).
So at least working with IMSM, answering the question has no impact.
It is too late and dmraid will never be used (this may be intentional
as a slow move away from dmraid). The actions to take would depend on
how we want to handle this. Should dmraid still be primary handler for
fakeraids?
