Kubuntu distribution upgrade from 11.x to 12.04

Upgrade stops with the error message after loading packages and
beginning installation:

Could not install the upgrades
Error during commit 'E:Couldn't configure pre-depend libtinfo5 for libncurses5, probably a dependency cycle.' Restoring original system state
