Title:
  package grub-pc 1.98-1ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade:

Status in “grub2” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: grub2

  This bug was "self-generated" during a distribution upgrade from
  Karmic to Lucid (two days prior to RC).

  You should be aware I'm only doing this as a test because I've seen
  some reports on the forums of grub2 installing to all mbrs and
  partitions during an upgrade so I wanted to check it out myself. That
  was not the case for me.

  I had another OS's grub2 in charge of boot and so this OS's grub2 was
  not installed to any mbr or partition. The upgrade kept that choice as
  a default and offered me the option to install wherever I wished as it
  should.

  Since I chose not to install grub2 to any mbr or partition that may
  have caused this, eh?

  I'd consider it very, very low priority at worst but still felt I
  should report it.
