Mountall does not clear the screen at all.  It communicates with
plymouth, which will take control of the console during boot, and which
will be full screen; so this isn't really something that's going to be
changed.

  It appears that mountall "clears" the screen when it runs.  There
  should be a flag so that the screen is not cleared so that previous
  lines sent to the console are not lost
