Hm, so no, that isn't likely it, the timeout happened with some others too. This though (/var/log/dist-upgrade/apt-term.log):

Bug description:
During the Distribution Upgrade process from 11.10 I got this error
message. Since the upgrade is still in progress, I don't yet know what
this effectively means. Will update information after install is done.
